Modern Open-Concept Kitchen & Living Cabinet Design

Project Overview

Kabinet Sifu completed a modern open-concept kitchen and living area cabinet design created for homeowners who want a bold, functional and visually connected home interior.

This project combines emerald green base cabinets, walnut wood-tone upper cabinets, a practical kitchen layout, built-in appliance planning and a warm open-concept living space. The overall design connects the kitchen, dining and living areas smoothly, making the home feel more spacious, inviting and suitable for daily family living.

The bold green cabinet colour adds personality, while the walnut finishing brings warmth and balance. This project shows how custom cabinetry can become both a functional storage solution and a strong design feature in a modern home.

Client’s Challenge

The main challenge was to create a home layout that feels spacious, practical and visually connected. In many modern condominiums, the kitchen, dining and living areas are close to each other, so the cabinet design must blend well with the overall interior instead of looking like a separate area.

The homeowner needed a design that could:

• Maximize kitchen storage
• Create a smooth flow between kitchen, dining and living areas
• Include enough countertop space for daily use
• Integrate appliances neatly into the cabinet layout
• Use bold colours without making the space feel too heavy
• Maintain a warm and timeless overall look
• Support both daily cooking and guest entertaining

Our Solution

Kabinet Sifu proposed a custom open-concept kitchen cabinet design with a bold yet balanced colour combination.

The emerald green lower cabinets create a strong visual statement and give the kitchen its own identity. To balance the bold colour, walnut wood-tone upper cabinets were used to add warmth and a more natural feel. This combination helps the kitchen stand out while still blending beautifully with the living and dining areas.

The kitchen layout was planned with built-in appliances, including oven and microwave areas, to create a cleaner and more streamlined appearance. Practical open storage and dish rack areas were included for convenient daily use.

The island and cabinet layout help define the kitchen area while still keeping the open-concept flow. This allows the kitchen, dining and living spaces to feel connected, spacious and functional.

Material and Design Selection

The material and colour selection focused on a modern, bold and long-lasting cabinet design.

Emerald green cabinet finishing was selected for the lower cabinets to create character and depth. This colour brings a premium and contemporary feel while making the kitchen a key feature of the home.

Walnut wood-tone finishing was used on the upper cabinets and feature panels to introduce warmth and soften the overall look. The wood texture also helps connect the kitchen with the living and dining areas, creating a more cohesive home interior.

The handleless cabinet design supports a clean and modern appearance, while the countertop provides practical working space for food preparation, serving and daily activities.

The overall design was customized according to the homeowner’s space, lifestyle and storage needs.
